Ubuntu Wellness Youth Festival

Help to support the building of a vibrant community of youth leaders and creators to amplify diverse voices through a Festival of Arts

About Us

Farai, a young Portland Oregon youth, experienced abuse, bullying, and discrimination. His death in 2022 inspired the Farai Peace Foundation, which founded a youth festival to support youth facing similar challenges. The festival aims to nurture every child’s talents through creative arts and wellness, focusing on harmony. It supports marginalized communities and encourages them to step up into leadership roles. The foundation believes that youth have valuable wisdom and love to share, and we need to guide and support their creative visions.

The Festival Purpose

Ubuntu Wellness Youths Festival aims to foster community unity by empowering younger generations through workshops, meditation circles, and camping trips. Funding is crucial, but word of mouth alone is not enough. The festival team, led by experienced arts professionals, believes in the power of arts in improving children’s performance at school and home. They believe that bringing awareness and fundraising is key to a successful event, and they are eager to accomplish their goal. The festival is fueled by community desire and faith, and they are committed to making a positive impact.

MISSION

The Farai Peace Foundation is promoting diversity in creative arts and wellness, aiming to represent the values and traditions of youth, families, and communities. Funds from the festival will support programs like music, dance, and creative arts after-school programs, spring break and summer camps, and family retreats. The foundation believes in equity and activism, recognizing that children and their culture can transform communities and become leaders with a universal mindset.

VISION

Loveness Wesa, founder of the Farai Peace Foundation and Ubuntu Wellness Arts Center, aims to address the inequalities faced by diverse youths and their families. She realized the need for focused support and gathered support from her American friends who share her values as an Indigenous African Immigrant. The non-profit Farai Peace Foundation will drive the Ubuntu Wellness Youth Festival, empowering youth to reach their highest potential. Loveness has experience as a producer, artistic director, and community leader, having founded Kgotso African Cultural Arts in Zimbabwe and serving as artistic director for Kgotso African Cultural Arts. She believes in reclaiming freedom to create authentic healing arts and stories, helping youths access their sacred gifts and empower them with love, peace, and harmony. The festival aims to provide a safe space for youth to explore their natural medicine, wisdom, and magic, allowing them to unleash their long suppressed creativity.
